Img_2485_1 . . . and he's not afraid to use them!!  That's right, Derek is WALKING!!  Actually, he has been walking for a few weeks, but is getting better everyday.  This has opened up all sorts of new troublesome things he can get into, but it's all good.

The adorable Pirate shoes were an early Christmas present from Grandma Valerie and Grandpa Dennis, and we absolutely love them.  (It was  Derek's first gift that he has ever opened, since he was only 4 days old last Christmas.)  He doesn't really enjoy having them put on his feet, but once they are there, he keeps them on.

The past few weeks, Derek has also been working on getting his top two teeth.  So far, we have one through, but are anxiously waiting for the other one, as he has been in a lot of pain and not his usually cheerful self lately.

Here is one last picture of the silly guy.  He was trying to lick the whipped cream off my Stawberry Cheesecake milkshake, but his little tongue just wasn't long enough :).

How fun! I loved it when my boys started walking 🙂 About three weeks into it the fun would start to wear off and reality would hit, but they were always so much happier once they were more independent. Have fun child proofing! And BTW, those shoes are way cute 🙂 Good taste Grandma and Grandpa!

Those shoes are way cute. I too remember the walking stage. I can be a lot of fun to see what they are going to do next. It is always fun to open presents early, even better when you have a birthday at christmas time (I have a child with one too). Have a happy thanksgiving:)

I LOVE those shoes! They are so cute and they definitely do a good job at staying put. I’m a little sad that Anna is growing out of hers (pink w/ orange butterfly). Payton had monkey shoes.
WTG Derek on walking! And I can hardly believe he’s actually going to get teeth before 18 months! =)
