HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Halloween has been very fun for us this year, but after 3 parties, I am ready to move on to Thanksgiving :).  It all started on Friday, when we had our complex party.  That day, Kevin and I realized that, although we had bought the kid's costumes over a month ago (a cowgirl complete with pink hat and boots, and a cute little monkey), we had nothing for ourselves.

After rummaging around, a few trips to WalMart and Goodwill, we finally came up with something.  After trying out a Jedi costume idea and just not being able to perfect it (Mara Jade, Luke Skywalker's wife), I ended up using a crazy leopard print dress I found at Goodwill to be Jane from "Tarzan."  And Kevin settled with a cowboy, since Lily was a cowgirl.

Then on Saturday, we had Kevin's Battalion Party.  We did trunk-or-treating, and Lily got so much candy, that she had to drag her bag along behind her.  It was pretty cute.  Kevin made fun of me, because as soon as we got home, I had all of the candy on the table and sorted.  It's just one of my things, I guess.Img_2217

Kevin was a cowboy at that party also, but just wasn't content – especially because his platoon was having a costume contest on Halloween, and the winner got a free day of leave!!  His mind went into overdrive and after many trips to the store and searching through all our belongings for bits and pieces for it, he finally created his perfect costume . . .

Well, needless to say, he won. He he! I guess you could call it another "build your own" adventure at the Brown house. Img_22281

Tonight was our ward trunk-or-treat, and it was a lot of fun.  Kevin wore his costume, and it was so funny because every little boy knew exactly who he was, but all the adults – who grew up with Star Wars – were confused.

All in all, it was a wonderful Halloween, but I am ready to move on to Thanksgiving adventures . . .

ps.  For those of you worried about Derek's bare feet, it was 80 degrees here today, and I was more afraid of him overheating :).

What great costumes! Kevin and I didn’t ever dress up this year… maybe next year to go trick-or-treating with Cora!

Kevin is still my HERO! Nobody builds a costume better and I have the photos to prove it. (Oh, and the kids are pretty cute, too.)
