I can't believe it, but I felt sharp little teeth under his gums yesterday!!  You can't really tell in the picture, but his gums have been pretty puffy and swollen, and if you look close, you can actually see the teeth right there. 

For those of you who think I am just a little too excited about a 9 month old finally getting his first tooth, you have to understand something – my daughter Lily didn't get her first tooth until she was almost 16 months old!!  I was worried she wasn't even getting teeth, and although people kept telling me her teeth would be healthier the later they came, it didn't ease my fears of having a forever toothless daughter.  (She's still a little behind, as she is 3 1/2 and still doesn't have all of her 2 yr old molars – he he!)

So Derek is getting his first 2 teeth, a very exciting thing :).  And although I will miss his adorable toothless grin, it will be a nice relief.

I had to change Derek's picture, as a few people thought the other one was a little scary, and didn't do him justice.  He he!  Pretty funny.  This one is actually a better picture of his gums anyway :).
