Img_19411 I don't know about you, but I love pacifiers.  I think that a baby who will take a pacifier is a special gift from heaven.  They sleep better, it is a simple way to quiet them in church, keep them content in a car, etc.

Luckily for me, both of my babies took a pacifier very well – in fact, they were our salvation, especially with Lily.   However, at ten months (a few months too soon for me) Lily gave it up.  She would scream and throw it across the room any time I gave it to her.  And even though it saved me a lot of trouble trying to take it away from her, it eliminated my secret weapon.

And now, my hopes that Derek would hold out for a little longer than her, are completely dashed.  From the moment we got back from Idaho, he has refused to take the pacifier.  Even if he is sleeping, he will wake up, cry, and whack it across the room.  So, at 8 months we are once again saying good bye to the secret weapon.

The silver lining in this whole thing, is that I don't have to take it away and deal with that can of worms – I just wish he had waited just a little bit longer.  Oh well.  Such is life . . .

It must be something about trips that throw a baby off. When we got back from our 3 week jaunt in the U.S. and then Rob was deployed right away, Ellie completely refused the pacifier at 4 months. I have to admit that I was not happy she picked then to give up the pacie. Oh well… Such is life! 🙂

Olivia loves her binkie so much that I am afraid that we won’t be able to get it away from her. We still have a little bit of time, but she needs to suck. If she didn’t have that binkie I’m afraid I would be nursing her 24/7. She’s also the first of mine that has willingly taken it and it has been a saving grace!
