So, it has been a few days and now I finally have the energy to write about our trip to Idaho.   It was so much fun, and we did so much, that it would take up too much space if I wrote everything out.  So, instead I am just going to make a list of the highlights of our adventure:

The Good List:

  • Arriving in Twin Falls at noon, just in time to go get lunch at Burger Stop – yum!
  • Having our luggage arrive before bedtime – Yea!!!  (We had barely made our connection in Salt Lake, and so it wasn’t a surprise that our luggage wasn’t with us when we arrived.)
  • Homemade ice-cream with Holly and Stuart.
  • Not feeling hot in the 100 degree weather – no humidity.
  • Kevin coming home from golfing with his shirt completely dry – no humidity.
  • Remembering my eye-drops – no humidity :).
  • Eating at Nine Beans and a Burrito – so good!!
  • Visiting with the Bowmans, Freemans, Ericsons, and the Parrishes
  • Kevin getting to play in his Dad’s place for his twilight golf league . . . and getting a 70!!!!
  • While we are on the subject of golf, Kevin got to play 81 holes of golf in Idaho, and he was only there for 5 days.  And as you can see from his 70, he played amazingly.
  • Kevin getting his foot scanned at the cool shoe store.
  • Lily playing in the kayak in Dakin’s pool – the funniest thing ever!
  • Img_11021 Kevin finally getting to see his brother Randy, who had returned from his 2 yr. mission a few months before.
  • Late nights talking with family.
  • Lily climbing in to bed with Grandma and Grandpa to watch a show.
  • Being there to witness Kevin’s dad getting released from being the Bishop of his ward, and seeing him come home from church and get to change his clothes and relax on a Sunday :).
  • Img_11141 Derek getting to meet his Great-grandma Mona.
  • Seeing my friend Leslie and setting her up on a date with Kevin’s brother Randy – to complete the task of her having gone on a date with all 4 Brown boys.  (It is especially funny that we got together in Twin, as both of us live in Georgia – he he!  She was there for a surgical rotation.)
  • Eating Maxie’s pizza.  If you hadn’t noticed, we had a few places we really wanted to eat at in Twin.  (Sadly, I never did make it to Papa Kelsey’s or Tomatoes)
  • Taking the kids to the park, and watching Derek laugh on the swings and Lily go down every slide.
  • Img_11241  Lily playing the penguin game, camping in the tent, and many other crazy games with Grandma and Grandpa.
  • Derek only making it up 3 steps before we caught him.  He had never been around stairs before in his life, we had no idea he would learn on his first try.
  • Lily doing a jam session on the saxophone with her Uncle Randy, and then watching Strongbad with him on his laptop.
  • Kevin getting to fly First Class on his way home.
  • Lily getting to play like a wild child outside.  But more importantly, Lily getting to walk barefoot in the grass!!  They just don’t make grass here like they do out West.
  • Water fights with her cousins.
  • Feeding the neighbors horses, and getting to see cows and sheep – to remind Lily what they look like in real life :).
  • Getting to cut my sister Holly’s hair :).  It turned out short, but so cute!
  • Img_11561 Picking peachcots, and taking a walk on a gorgeous Idaho evening.
  • Shopping at Costco and Shopko.  But even better, a shopping trip to Old Navy with my sister and just our babies, with Leslie along to keep us company and entertain Derek and Luke :).  So much fun!!
  • BBQ’s and eating homemade ice-cream again :).
  • Giving Lily rides on the scooter and 4-wheeler.
  • My shopping trip with Valerie to the quilt store in Rupert!  And better yet, coming home with gorgeous fabric to start a new project.
  • Doing a photo shoot with Holly’s three boys.
  • A picnic with Holly and some of our good friends, Krista and Stephanie.
  • Lily helping Grandpa Dennis clean his garage, and taking her "birthday bath" in the black storage tub.
  • Going to my parent’s ward, where I spent my teenage years, and getting to say hi to a lot of old friends.  (And having Lily stay in Nursery the rest of the time, after being brought to me for taking everyone’s marbles to make her "delicious soup.")
  • My in-laws being unavailable to visit on Sunday afternoon, not because they had church meetings, but because they went to Sun Valley to watch the symphony – how exciting for them!!
  • Going to the Pocatello Zoo, where I somehow had the strength to push my double stroller up some huge hills.  Lily getting to see all sorts of wild animals that you would find in Idaho, and not in a normal zoo (Elk, buffalo, badgers, wild turkeys, foxes, coyotes, etc.)
  • Visiting my sister Cheryl and her family in Idaho Falls.  Lots of cousins that played so well with Lily, and having a blast hanging out with my sisters, nieces, and nephews.
  • Another photo shoot (I love to play photographer), this time with Cheryl’s kids.
  • Getting to visit with my friend LaDawna and her kids.
  • Finally making it home to Savannah!!!  (With the help of a lot of very wonderful people along the way.)

Well, there is the very abbreviated version of our trip.  It really was a wonderful experience.  If you want to see a few more pictures from our trip, see the new photo album I included.  Thank you to all of you who helped us along the way.  We can’t wait to see you again next year!!  (Although, I really can wait another year before I travel again – he he!)

I’m so glad you had a great trip! It really is the best to spend time with family, and nice long periods of time to visit are always nice I think, especialy when you live far apart.

Wow Lisa, what an awesome trip! How special for Kevin to get to “re-unite” with his brother after two years. Sounds like they are pretty close and that it was one of the hi-lights of the trip. I love the picture of you and Lily on the scooter with the cows in the back-ground, very “Idaho” style 🙂
