Well, it all began on Thursday, which was Kevin's and my 5th Wedding Anniversary. We were very excited to get out, and went down to River Street along the Savannah River. (It is hundreds of years old, and was where the cotton factors sold the cotton grown in the area. Now it is full of great shops and restaurants – sort of like how Cannery Row in Monterrey used to be a bunch of Sardine Factories.)
We went to a great restaurant, The Shrimp Factory, and things were going great until . . . I sprained my ankle trying to walk on centuries old cobblestones with the cute shoes I wore for our date. I serves me right, because i had been down there many times, and really should have known better. It also didn't help that I was too busy gawking at a MASSIVE container ship go down the river right in front of us, to notice where, and on what, I was walking.
The sprained ankle took me out of commission for the rest of the weekend, but Kevin took great care of me and the kids so I could relax. (He even shampooed the carpet!!) I don't know how I would have been able to follow the doctor's orders and stay off my ankle otherwise. So we hung around the house all weekend and watched movies, which messed up my ideas of playing at the beach, but turned out to be a lot of fun. (We saw Hoodwinked – Very fun, The Greatest Game Ever Played – A great show, and The Family Stone – pretty entertaining. Oh, and Lily got to rent a Dora movie too.)
Lily and Derek have been pretty great. We had to buy Lily a new booster seat, because Derek is getting so big, that we are going to move him to Lily's car seat in a couple months. She picked it out, and it has big pink flowers all over it. Lily also has decided that she loves to talk on the phone. This is her talking to her 3 yr old cousin Austin. It was pretty adorable.
Lily's excitement lately has been caused by the party plans for her 3 yr old birthday bash. I am trying to keep it pretty simple, but she loves every bit of the planning. I even let her pick and cake in my cake decorating book, and the great gal she is, she picked the easiest one. Yeah! She definitely knows what she wants for the party, and it has been really fun so far. We'll see how I feel about it AFTER the party.
Well, when all was said and done, it really was a great weekend – even with the sprained ankle.
