We all finally overcame the illness that had taken over our house, and were able to have a little fun this past weekend. Kevin started it off on Saturday morning, by cutting Derek’s hair – or rather “buzzing” Derek’s hair. Kevin had always wanted to shave his head, as he was born with long and uneven hair, which had worn away in spots to leave quite the mullet.

The problem was that scissors wouldn’t really do it, and the big clippers would have hurt his soft baby head. Well, being the genius he is, and never one to give up on a plan, Kevin solved the dilemma by using his beard and mustache trimmer with a tiny guard on it. It worked perfect, and Derek is looking as cute as ever – if I do say so myself. (Check out the before and after pics.)

Lily has been entertaining us with her new “thing.” She takes the down comforter from our bed, pulls it over my hope chest, and proceeds to make her “bear cave.” Sometimes she rips every pillow and blanket off the bed to complete it. She also likes to make “nests,” as she calls them. She takes every quilt, blanket, pillow, and sometimes clean, folded laundry, and arranges them into her perfect circular pile. She arranges herself in the center of it all, and proceeds to play. She can do either of these activities for hours, which helps me look past the mess she is making. Besides, just watching her with her nest or bear cave, is worth any work it might make for me.

Lastly, we filled our weekend with a fun, and free, carnival. We met our good friends and had a great day. Lily went on every ride we would let her, and had a massive smile plastered on her face for it all. She is our little daredevil.
